Nothing special, really. Mom was in advanced computation, Dad was a primary school teacher--he was my teacher for two terms, actually. I don't know if you've ever had a parent for a teacher, but it's not fun.

Anyway... I'm an only child and there weren't a lot of kids my age in the sector I grew up in, so I ended up spending a lot of downtime with my parents and their friends. My mom is... I guess "opinionated" is the right word for it. She knows what she wants and won't let anyone argue with her about it. Dot's like that too, but she's more overt about it.

And I'm kinda rambling now, and I don't know if I've answered your question or not...

Smart men have strong, opinionated women for mothers. I've found this to hold true in at least seventeen different universes. They also wind up having exceedingly good taste in women, if they're so inclined.

I haven't been home schooled, but my dad's a Sheriff in Los Angeles County. He is The Law. As you can imagine, that put a crimp in my dating life in high school.

So -- is there any reliable way you've found for interpreting the metaphors in precognitive dreams so that they're useful more than two minutes before the even they're predicting occurs?

I mean, as satisfying as that click when it all falls into place is, it'd be nice if it came a little earlier.

I'll tell you what I told my students (http://www.dominic-deegan.com/view.php?date=2007-01-05): If a vision seems cryptic, it's because you don't have enough information yet. In order to be a successful seer, you have to study everything, from history to geography to psychology. You never know what will come in handly later.
